The menus, which showcase Australian produce in categories named earth, land, ocean and air, offer sharing options as well as carefully designed tasting menus with or without matched wines. In addition, 12-Micron offers a superb dessert kitchen, with a bar complete with seating where visitors can watch their sweet creations being made by the pastry chefs. For those with a sweet tooth, a chance to indulge in a three or five course dessert menu is surely an opportunity not to be missed!
Of course, the modern Australian cuisine here does not only concentrate on meat and fish; vegetarian and vegan cuisine get the 12-Micron treatment too. The paperbark baked vegetables are a firm favourite on the menu and there is even a separate 7- course vegetarian and vegan tasting menu to tempt the taste buds.
12-Micron has been designed to include several private and semi-private areas which ideally lend themselves to larger gatherings, making this an ideal venue for celebrations, family get-togethers and business events alike. The restaurant seats some 230 people and even has its own dedicated function space, which means that you can bring small and large gatherings of people to enjoy the fine dining and the spectacular views across the water which are enchanting at all times of the day and in any kind of weather.
An extensive wine list is available to accompany your fine dining experience, including many fine and unusual wines available by the glass, ideal for matching them to your tasting menu. It is advisable to book your table in advance, particularly if you are looking to dine with a large group of people.
Since its completion, the Barangaroo area in Sydney has seen a variety of excellent restaurants established along the waterfront, and Micron-12, with its 270-degree views of the harbour, is a wonderful place to bring visitors. Easily reached by public transport (Wynyard station is close by), on foot, by car or even in a water taxi, this is an ideal place to enjoy fine dining in Sydney in a tasteful and casual atmosphere.
